The New Year Renews our Faith in Longview and East Texas (January 1, 1947)

LeTourneau arrived in Longview with a pocket full of blueprints and a heart full of hope that Longview and East Texas would welcome and profit by his vast expansion program. In the eleven months that followed, you have seen the rapid growth of the huge factory, the enrollment of the faculty and students of the LeTourneau Technical Institute of Texas---the recognition of the Institute as a full-fledge Junior College---the vee-hive of LeTourneau Earthmovers, Dozers, and Cranes in operation---the development and proving the startling Turnalayer, the concrete housemaking machine---and the growth of the housing project for LeTourneau employes.  It is a truly fantastic, but nevertheless, it has already proven to us that our faith in Longview and East Texas was well founded. W. P. Hurst Motor Co. Keeps Pace With City (January 1, 1947)

Originally Published in The Longview Daily News on January 1, 1947 . The W. P. Hurst Motor Company, founded in 1931 by Walter P. Hurst, has kept pace with the growth of Longview by offering an ever increasing variety of machines and services to its customers in Longview and surrounding territory. This company is the dealership for the well known International and McCormick-Deering line which comprise trucks, farm tractors, farm machinery, dairy and refrigeration equipment. The line of Interantional trucks is complete from the 1/2-ton pick-up to the new West-Coast models of up to 90,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating.  This new line of extra heavy-duty models was developed for on-and-off highway work in mountainous territory, and for heavy oil field service.  Each truck model of this complete line is available in various wheelbases; a variety of gear ratios and such optional features as tire sizes, two-speed axles, increased cooling capacity, increased braking, power brakes...
